An Amazon-sponsored organization in China gave an innovation award to a firm that helps the Chinese Communist Party spy on political and religious prisoners.

The firm, Renwei Electronics, creates tracking devices that monitor prisoners movements and alert guards to unusual activity.

This technology is used heavily in Xinjiang, where the CCP imprisons Muslim minority groups in prisons and forced labor camps.

Amazon’s logo featured heavily at the award ceremony, where Chinese firms received awards for entrepreneurship and innovation.
